Doors, Gates, and New Installations Across the North Bay
North of the bridge the job changes shape. A fair share of what we are called out to here is not a standard two-car door on a suburban lot. It is a long gravel driveway with an automatic gate at the road, a barn or equipment building with a door twice the usual width, or a hillside property where the garage sits at an angle to everything else on the site. A good share of that is new installation rather than repair, because a non-standard opening rarely has a door that already suits it.
That mix runs from Marin through Sonoma and into Napa, and it changes what a service call involves. A house in central Petaluma and a working property outside Healdsburg both need us, and almost nothing about the two visits is the same.
Cities We Cover in the North Bay Region
Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Windsor, Sonoma, Napa, San Rafael, Novato, Vallejo, Fairfield, and Vacaville.
Across Four Counties
Through Sonoma County, we also work in Rohnert Park, Sebastopol, Healdsburg, and Cotati. Down into Marin, we cover San Anselmo, Corte Madera, Larkspur, and Fairfax. On the Napa side, we reach American Canyon and Calistoga, and eastward into Solano County, we serve Benicia.
Also covered: Yountville, St. Helena, Glen Ellen, Penngrove, Sausalito, Mill Valley, Tiburon, Belvedere, and Ross. Everywhere else we cover in California is on the service areas page.
Gates, Outbuildings, and Oversized Doors
An automatic gate is a different machine from a garage door, and it fails differently. Gate operators sit outdoors year round, so they take weather no garage door ever sees, and the loop detectors and safety edges buried in a driveway are the parts that give trouble first. On rural properties, the gate is also the only thing between the road and the house, which makes a failure urgent in a way a stuck garage door usually is not. That is what our emergency garage door repair service is for, and the phones are answered at any hour.
Agricultural and estate buildings bring the second complication, which is size. A door wide enough for equipment carries far more weight than a residential door, needs heavier springs and a higher-horsepower operator, and cannot be fixed with parts off a standard van. We ask for measurements before scheduling anything on a building like that, because arriving without the right hardware wastes everyone’s morning.
The third is the hillside garage. Marin and the western Sonoma hills are full of houses where the slab has moved slightly over decades, and a door that no longer meets its own frame squarely is usually a symptom of the building rather than the door. Adjusting the track buys time. Being honest about what is actually moving saves money.
What We Handle Up Here
Routine repair and servicing on residential doors, plus installation and replacement across the full range of styles and materials. Automatic gate work, commercial doors, and outbuilding doors are all covered. If a property has several openings, it is worth walking the whole site on one visit rather than booking three.
New Doors for Openings That Are Not Standard
A barn door, a shop opening at fourteen feet, or a garage cut into a slope is not a catalogue purchase. The opening gets measured, the headroom and side room get checked against what the track needs, and the door gets specified around the building rather than the other way round. That takes a visit before a quote, and we would rather do it that way than arrive with something that does not fit.
Gate automation follows the same pattern up here, and on a long rural driveway the practical question is usually power and the run back to the house rather than the gate itself. Door styles and material options are the place to start, and the door builder lets you see combinations first.
FAQ
Questions From the North Bay
Do you service automatic driveway gates as well as garage doors?
Yes. Gate operators, safety loops, and edges are part of what we do, and on a rural property they are often the more pressing of the two.
Can you fit a door on a barn or equipment building?
Usually, though it is a measured job rather than a stock one. Give us the opening width, height, and headroom when you call and we can tell you what is possible before anyone drives out.
Our garage door has started catching on one side. Is that serious?
It depends on what is moving. Sometimes it is track alignment, which is straightforward. On an older hillside property it can be the slab or the frame shifting, and in that case adjusting the door alone only postpones the problem.
Arranging a Visit
Our number is 866-337-1631, and the contact form works just as well. For anything beyond a standard residential door, describing the opening up front saves a wasted trip.
